EMERGENCY FIRST AID KIT

Emergency First Aid Kit provides medical first aid instantly and temporarily to treat injuries of soldiers involved in war or people injured in natural calamities. This kit is an indispensable part of any total preparedness plan.

 

A brief description and advantages of Emergency First Aid Kit are mentioned below :

1. Water Repellent Bag : The bag is made of highly durable dual laminated mattey and has strength to carry weight up to 20 kilograms. The special cloth used in the bag does not allow water to penetrate easily. Two pockets are attached at the sides for carrying oxygen cylinders in the operational area.

Two pockets at back and front allow keeping additional items such as ambu bag, tourniquets, airway gudels etc. Extra wide and extra padded shoulder straps minimises the pressure of bag on the shoulders of carrier person. To support the bag an abdominal belt has been provided, which also has padding, along with high quality buckle for quick and easy release. Bag is available in green/black/beige colour as well as in disruptive pattern.

2. Bandage 3” & 4” : Bandages are typically used to slow heavy bleeding. Surgiwear have made these improvised bandages which can be used by injured soldier himself and that too with just one hand. After a lot of research and continuous development, we have innovated one of world’s best emergency bandage dressing.

A special adhesive strip at the start of bandage helps in single hand application.  Available duly sterilized and to make it compact are especially vacuum packed. To withstand harsh conditions of war, it is supplied in double packing. Tear notches are provided for easy opening of packing.

Our bandage dressing incorporates all 5 different requirements of any complete bandage. Any complete bandage dressing needs to have the following 5 things separately:

    • Gauze piece (Sterile)
    • Cotton (Sterile)
    • Antiseptic
    • Bandage (Sterile)
    • Adhesive tape to secure end of dressing.

Our bandage dressing has in-built wound pad with cotton sealed in it. The wound pad contains antiseptic solution which helps in controlling infection atwound site. The top layer of wound pad has a special lining which does not allow it to stick with the wound. The end of chest dressing has Velcro which helps in securing the bandage. These dressing are available in 2 different sizes i.e. 3 inches and 4 inches. It comes pre-sterilized and has shelf life of 5 years. It is supplied vacuum packed for easy carriage in field area.

3. UEM Splint : Splint is a device used for support or immobilization of fractured limb. The Universal Emergency Splint or UEM Splint is to be used by emergency medical personnel to immobilize fractured limb before transportation. It is a temporary immobilization device to be used in field area or otherwise. The features and advantages of UEM splint are as follows:

    1. It can be used to support any part of injured limb
    2. It provides angular support such as application for supporting elbow, knee, ankle at 90degree angle or straight support such as holding leg or arm in straight position
    3. Due to its unique design, 2 UEM splints can be joined together for increasing the length or width of splint
    4. No external items such as hot water, hot air or hardening liquid is required for using the splint
    5. No additional bandages are required for applying the splint as tightening provision is incorporated in the design of splint itself
    6. Being plastic in nature, it is very light in weight
    7. It can be folded easily for carrying in field areas

4. Compression Bandage-for Limbs: Rakshika: Surgiwear have made this improvised pressure dressing which can be used by injured soldier himself and that too with just one hand. After a lot of research and continuous development, they have innovated one of world’s best emergency pressure dressing. A special adhesive strip at the start of dressing helps in single had application. A ridge is incorporated in the design of rakshika so that pressure could be localized on the bleeding point itself. It is available in width size of 6 inches.

Rakshika dressing incorporates all 5 difference requirements of any complete bandage.Any complete bandagedressing needs to have the following 5 things separately.

    • Gauze piece (Sterile)

5. Absorbent Guaze : Absorbent Gauze: The absorbent gauze is made of special viscose aperture spun lace material. Due to viscose’s good absorbent quality over regular cotton gauze, it absorbs blood quickly and is more comfortable to use. Available duly sterilized and to make it compact are especially vacuum packed. To withstand harsh conditions of war, it is supplied in double packing. Tear notches are provided for easy opening of packing. Shelf life is 5 years.

6. Emquet one hand tourniquet : Tourniquet is used to stop bleeding of cut and torn limbs. Loss of blood is one of the major reasons for loss of life. Stopping of blood in minimum possible time will help in saving the life. Emquet is a simple device which can be used by one hand by injured person himself. Due to its designing sufficient pressure can be generated to stop bleeding. Wide straps will minimize the risk of injury to underlying tissues. It is supplied duly vacuum packed with tear notch of easy opening. Due to its indigenous designing and use of Indian components it is priced very competitively.

7. Eye Dress :  In case of injury to eye in battlefield, the eye dress can be used to cover the injured eye.The eye dress has wound pad and an adhesive tape to hold the wound pad in its place.Wound pad is made of spun lace material with filament yarn in it.Special sealing on all sides does not allow fibre’s to get in the injured eye. Available duly sterilized and to make it compact are especially vacuum packed. To withstand harsh conditions of war, it is supplied in double packing. Tear notches are provided for easy opening of packing.

8. Oropharyngeal Airway : Airway Guedel: This high quality Oropharyneal airway, also known as Guedel airway, is a medical device used to maintain a opne airways. It does this by preventing the tongue from (either partially or completely) covering the epiglottis, which could prevent the patient from breathing, when a person becomes unconscious, the muscles in their jaw relex and may allow the tongue to obstruct the airway. This simple device is very effective in mainting the open airway. Two Adult soze Airway Guedel are provided in each kit.

 

9. 10. Air Splint : These splints are used for immobilizing fractured limb. It works on basic principal that the fractured limb should be given ample cushion so as to avoid further injury. Deflated air splint is slipped under the injured limb and zipped later so as to wrap around the injured limb. The splint is inflated later and it provides air cushioning around the injured limb to help easy carriage of patient for necessary medical care. It comes in 9different sizes and shapes such as Leg splint, arm splint, wrist splint and multipurpose splint.

11. Ambu bag (Resuscitator) : It is used for giving artificial respiration to victim of any accident in which breathing tends to stop. It is an alternative to mouth to mouth resuscitation.It has a non return, non re-breathing valve. If required, oxygen mixedwith air can be also given. It is a very simple to use device.

12. Hand Held Suction : It is a very compact and easy to handle portable suction unit. It weighs a mere 346 grams and could work from -20C to + 50C. It is designed to provide quick and effective suction for emergency use.

13. Asherman Chest Seal : Asherman Chect Seal: The ACH TM (Asherman Chest Seal) is a sterile occlusive dressing for treating open pneumothorax and prevention tension pneumothorax in chest injuries from gunshot stab wounds or other penetrating chest trauma. The unique one-way valve is designed to let air and blood escape while preventing re-entry of either. Proven more effective treatment than standard petroleum gauze, the ACS is standard issue for the US Army, the British Army and US Navy. The ACS is 5.5” in diameter, includes a gauze pad (4” X 4”) to clean and dry the wound and is clear so the wound can be observed
